Best Vegan Restaurants in London

Two weeks ago, Becca featured on my blog to give you guys a soul warming vegan chile recipe in celebration of World Vegan Day.

The celebration isn’t over just yet–November is World Vegan Month.

Fun fact: I was vegan for nine months. Even though I’ve adopted animal products back into my diet, my relationship with food completely changed as a result of my experience and I’ve gained major respect for the lifestyle. I’ve drastically limited my meat consumption in comparison to before I went vegan, but dairy is another story and I’m not sure if I’m ready to give it up again because well, CHEESE.

During my vegan days, I became quite familiar with London’s vegan food scene and I thought I’d share my favourites with you. Whether you’re vegan, transitioning or just curious about the lifestyle, these places will not disappoint!

Plant Matter

Plant Matter is a group of vegan restaurants in London, including Plant Matter Kitchen, Plant Matter Bistro and Plant Matter Café. Each location is unique, but they all serve delicious locally sourced, organic and 100% plant-based food.

For classic breakfast, lunch and dinner with a vegan twist, visit Plant Matter Kitchen in Wortley Village.

For fine dining, book a reservation at Plant Matter Bistro downtown London.

For a coffee shop vibe, stop by Plant Matter Café on Richmond Row. Not to mention, it’s a great study spot for students.

The best part? Western and Fanshawe students receive 15% off with a valid student I.D. (excludes beverages). See last week’s post for more ways to save money as a student foodie.

All three locations are available for delivery on Just Eat and Skip the Dishes.

Globally Local

Vegans know how hard it is to find plant-based food on the go. Globally Local solves that problem.

Globally Local is a vegan fast food restaurant with two locations in London. The dine-in only store is located downtown on Dundas and the 24 hour drive thru location is situated further east on Highbury.

This is the place to go if you’re looking for a cheat meal, plus it’s quick so it’s perfect for those nights when you’re just too busy with school to cook.

Available for delivery on Uber Eats, Just Eat and Skip the Dishes.

The Boombox Bakeshop

Looking to satisfy your sweet tooth vegan-style? Look no further than The Boombox Bakeshop located on Adelaide in the Old East Village. Specializing in vegan and gluten free baked goods, the shop offers everything from cupcakes to pies to coffee. The bakery is easily recognizable by its bright pink exterior, matching the vibrant music-themed aesthetic of the interior. Even the packaging is visually pleasing. Guests come for the food and stay for the atmosphere.

And now for some honourable mentions. These places aren’t 100% vegan, but they do have lots of plant-based options…

Chil: They have tons of vegan fro-yo flavours and toppings, including vegan cookie dough!

The Root Cellar: Specializing in local and organic ingredients, their menu offers a bunch of yummy vegetarian and vegan options.

Origins: You can find lots of healthy vegan breakfast and lunch options here, including non-dairy milks for coffee and tea.

  1. I’m a meat lover and I drool over all things cheese so a vegan life style was not something i was interested in. I used to think that vegan food wasn’t as delicious or satisfying as “regular” food. I also decided to check out some vegan restaurants and I realized that I was totally wrong! The root cellar and plant matters are now some of my favourite places to visit. They have vegan/ veggie options that are just as delicious and filling as non-vegan options.
